Awards Presented by NSNC

Dossion Great Lakes Museum on Belle Isle was the site of Friday night dinner sponsored by Ford Motor Company for attendees of the 35th Annual Conference of the National Society of Newspaper Columnists.

The Legacy Award was presented posthumously to Mike Harden of the Columbus Dispatch for his excellence as a columnist and many years of involvement with the NSNC.  Awards were also presented to Larry Maddry of the Virginia Pilot and Richard Des Ruisseaux of the Louisville Courier-journal who were instrumental in  founding  the organization. [Harden’s wife & son accepted the award. Bob Hill presented.]

Rochelle Riley of the Detroit Free Press received the Will Rogers Humanitarian Award for her work in helping people to learn to read, as well as her passionate writing on a number of other humanitarian-oriented projects. [Bob Haught, James Rogers, Rochelle Riley and her Editor pictured]

W. Bruce Cameron was presented with a Columnist of the Year Award for his excellence as a columnist and author, and his willingness to share his creative skills with his fellow columnists.
