Registration Opens at Detroit Conference

NSNC members began arriving and registration opened at the Westin Book Cadillac in Detroit.  Some of the officers who arrived early were kept busy in the afternoon helping to assemble conference materials and stuff goody bags as Conference Chair, Brian O’Connor, took care of last minute conference details. President Ben Pollock personally worked at the registration table and greeted members as they arrived.

Conference attendees will assemble at 6:00 PM in the hotel lobby to enjoy dinner at The Whitney, one of Detroit’s most iconic restaurants, housed in an 1894 lumber baron’s 52-room mansion perched directly on Woodward Avenue. A rare variety of pink granite gives the outside of the House a striking rose hue, while the original electrification in the house was done by Thomas Edison himself.  The Whitney is owned and operated by Bud Liebler, a former Chrysler executive who is revitalizing the restaurant to keep it as a treasured Detroit icon.

Kick-Off Reception for the “Rebound in Motown” will follow dinner at PJ’s Lager House in Corktown, hosted by co-owner and Detroit News multimedia columnist Donna Terek. Entertainment will be provide by former Detroit News columnist Luther “Bad Man” Keith and his blues band.

Times and details for events can be found on the Conference Agenda on the website.

All bus and shuttle transportation for today’s events are graciously provided by the Detroit Convention and Visitors Bureau
