A Book That Includes A Lot About Our Organization!
Comic (and Column) Confessional, a memoir by NSNC board member Dave Astor, has found a publisher.
The part-humorous book — which will be released this June by Xenos Press — is about Dave’s 25 years at Editor & Publisher magazine covering columnists, cartoonists, and newspaper syndication. NSNC members and the NSNC itself are mentioned many times in the book.
Also mentioned are many other well-known columnists Dave interviewed and/or met. They include people — such as Heloise, Ann Landers, Abigail Van Buren (“Dear Abby”), Erma Bombeck, Dave Barry, and David Broder — mostly known for their newspaper work; and those — such as Arianna Huffington, Hillary Clinton, Walter Cronkite, Coretta Scott King, and Martha Stewart — who write/wrote columns but are better known for their non-newspaper work.
The book offers anecdotes about the above people and others, chronicles changes in the media during Astor’s 1983-2008 E&P tenure, discusses the author’s personal life, and more.
Dave now writes essays about books for The Huffington Post and also does the weekly “Montclairvoyant” topical-humor column for The Montclair (N.J.) Times.
