Meet New NSNC Executive Director, Ginny McCabe

Meet New NSNC Executive Director, Ginny McCabe

Dear NSNC Family,

I’d like to take a moment to say hello and let you know how excited I am to serve with you as part of the National Society of Newspaper Columnists. It’s quite an honor and a privilege to be named as the organization’s new executive director. I look forward to what’s ahead and getting to know each of you. Thank you for the opportunity!

My door, email and phone are always open, so please feel free to reach out at any time with your thoughts and ideas.

Many from our board and NSNC members attended the NSNC annual conference in Birmingham, Alabama in June. For me, the entire trip was fantastic! Throughout the conference, we engaged in many outstanding workshops, training sessions and networking opportunities. Among the highlights, we were proud to honor Mary C. Curtis with the Ernie Pyle Lifetime Achievement Award and Bonnie Jean Feldkamp was recognized with NSNC’s Legacy Award. While there, we visited the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute. As you can imagine, that was quite a moving experience.

As we move ahead, I would like to thank our board, NSNC leadership, and all of you for everything we have been able to accomplish together — from the personal wins to the larger conversations that lead to greater change. I’m thrilled about the future, and I join with you as we continue to advance our important work.

All the best,
Ginny McCabe
Executive Director, National Society of Newspaper Columnists

Editors note: We all knew Ginny was a rock star. So when she was nominated to be executive director, I suggested making T-shirts to sell at her concerts – and not the cheap knockoffs dudes sell in the parking lot after the show. Have you seen prices for rock star merch these days? NSNC could make a killing. In all seriousness, Ginny brings the kind of organizational skills and high energy the NSNC needs right now.

She has amazing ideas and if you don’t already know her background, check this out: Named “Best Freelance Writer” in 2018, 2021 and 2022, and a Kiplinger Fellow in 2019, Ginny McCabe’s work can be seen in publications like the Journal-News and Reuters. One of her books, Secrets Young Women Keep (Thomas Nelson/HarperCollins) is an ECPA Silver Medallion winner and has been featured on the CBA Young Adult Bestseller Lists. Ginny serves as the executive director of the National Society of Newspaper Columnists. Ginny is also active in the Society of Professional Journalists where she serves as president of the Cincinnati Pro Chapter and as an SPJ Freelance Community board member. As SPJ’s Region 4 Coordinator, she also works with professional and student SPJ chapters in Ohio, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. Connect with Ginny at www.ginnymccabe.com and on Twitter @ginnymccabe.

Be sure to connect with Ginny on ideas for future programming and growing our Society.
